Thankful for…

Thankful for…

As we put our last sticker on the month of November and receive our gohoubi stickers, it’s the best time to reflect and think of how much we have accomplished in this busy month.

We hit the ground running this month with a field trip in our first week. The destination was Kodomo no Kuni— a wide space full of nature, animals, and playgrounds. Everyone loved rolling down the big hill and jumping on the white trampoline, as well as meeting some sheep and cows!

We also have been blessed with warm weather throughout the month, so park days have been extra fun! Our current after school program teacher, Jojo Teacher, has also been playing games with our after school kids a lot outside in the afternoons.

Fathers’ brunch

In the middle of the month, our English teachers enjoyed a nice brunch outside with some of our Mercury students’ fathers.

Speech Day

On the 18th, our Speech Day students finally presented their speeches in front of the school (and parents through Zoom). All the English teachers were so proud of everyone who did their best!

As the month started to wind down, we had two more celebrations. Our birthday party for November birthdays on the 25th, and our Thanksgiving skit on the 26th. We had a lot of fun dancing together, as well as dressing up and pretending to be turkeys, Native Americans, and Pilgrims.

Our final event of this busy, busy month: Bazaar! Thanks to all of the mamas who put the event together, the day was full of fun events, shopping, and crafts! It was beautiful weather, so some games were outside in the fresh air.

Although this month was nonstop action for our teachers and students, it was full of fun and unique experiences for everyone! We are so thankful we were able to practice safety and excitement at the same time.

Now that it’s already December 1st, our minds have quickly changed to thinking about our Christmas show. but for a while, we hope our students and families have found some time to rest after a busy month!

October is here!

October is here!

A new month means new crafts!

We have been so excited for October to come! There is so much to look forward to.

At the end of this month is our Sports Day and Halloween celebration. But until then, we spent some time getting creative to celebrate autumn!

At the beginning of the month, we have already made paintings for the new moon viewing holiday. We also are making clay pumpkins and colorful fall leaves this week.

And there are still some more to come!

Happy October!

久しぶりです!

We are back from Golden Week with another new schedule at International Language House.

This week we have launched our new Zoom class system for students who have stayed at home. This has been a learning curve for both families and teachers. But we have been trying our best 🙂

How have you been spending your time at home? Please feel free to look at our Useful Phrases page in our menu at the top of the blog page to help fill in the gaps while staying at home with your child.

We have also sent out private YouTube links to our clients. These will pair with a large package we sent out to each student before Golden Week. Inside each package includes supplies for crafts, a picture book for each class depending on level, English workbooks, and other activities.

For our students who are taking online classes with us, we only ask that each day before class starts, please prepare yourselves with your Golden Week packages nearby in case we use the English books during our lesson.

Thank you for always following along with us, even with difficult times. We are working hard every day to make sure your child still has many opportunities to learn with us.

We hope to see you all under different circumstances soon.

Crafts, Crafts, Crafts… part 1: Oni

Crafts, Crafts, Crafts… part 1: Oni

Our school has been consumed by cardboard!

No, really.

Leading up to Setsubun, we have spent a lot of time creating our own version of oni: masks, puppets, and even full body creations bigger than ourselves!

We successfully warded off the terrible oni with our chants, bean throwing, and bravery.

Now that Setsubun is over, it’s time to take home our crafts and focus on the next event at hand! Coming soon in part 2…
